The Mistake
Starts with the commentators talking about the main character Robert Miller on the attack dribbling through players and getting past them and then when he's about to score a tackle comes in from Ben Anderson and snatches the ball from him. Ben Anderson then goes and scores from tackling him. From then on anything Robert Miler tries it goes wrong, for example shooting always goes over the bar and when trying to take on a player he gets tackled. Camera then cuts to him finally going past a player, but as he is about to shoot he gets fouled in the box to win a penalty and win the game. As he steps up to take it boos wring round the place, he then misses it after the keeper saves it. The manager and him start to have an argument and the manager proceeds to sub him off. During this his teammates also have a go at him. He then gets booed off the pitch.

The Training
The training idea is where Robert starts to train to redeem himself from the disaster of last game. The inspiration is from Rocky where he is training for his fight. The scene will include the character practising his dribbling through cones and his shooting into the goal, at the end of the training session he will have one penalty where he scores it. During this scene there will be background music and flashbacks to the mistakes he made in the previous game. This training sequence will also include a part where the teammates are watching him from a distance. As the ball goes in the back of the net the video fades to black and goes straight into the next scene.

The Redemption
The redemption starts with the commentators talking about this game and the weight on Robert Millers shoulders after his last performance. The game starts with Roberts doing really well dribbling past players taking better shots. He then goes up against his rival Ben Anderson, this was the moment he was waiting for to finally beat him. Robert then dribbles past him and scores to make the score 1-0. It doesn't get shown on camera but the score is 1-1 going into the final minutes. The commentators will say 3 minutes of added time and the scores are level at 1-1. We will see a couple of POV shots of Robert dribbling past a couple of players before being fouled in the box for another penalty. As he steps up flashbacks of his manager shouting at him, his teammates having a go at him, the penalty he missed keep flashing between each-other. Robert shoots and in slow motion the goalkeeper goes the right way but can get enough on it, so the ball goes in. Miller then goes off and celebrates. The screen then fades to black as the crowd goes wild.

PITCH:
|
My pitch didn't go the greatest, but that was due to the fact that i never really had a solid idea, so my idea completely changed from this. It went from a montage to a proper football video. One main problem i had was that i never had a powerpoint so i couldn't really visually show people my idea, so that probably why my idea changed. I'm more happy with my idea now so this was secretly a blessing in disguise.

Pitch Feedback from Simon:
- Develop visual idea and test shoot.
- Re think the idea to not be so reliant on too many people.
- Consider less complicated action to shoot - safer preferably.
- Re-examine your 3 Acts. - Pick a 90 sec/2 minute scene and start breaking it down.
- Research short films and techniques for similar scenes. how have they been shot? How have they captured mood? (soundtrack, shot types, lighting)
Final Idea:
Starts of with the main player inside putting his boots on getting ready for his trial, when he gets a call from his brother. The brother talks about how much he is going to smash it and get a place in the team. He will then get up and walk out of the room. It will then cut to the player with the ball under his foot, he will kick off and start to do some skills as the camera will be focused on his feet running up the pitch. The camera will then go behind him as he is through on goal, which will then pan to the side as a player comes in and slides through the side of him and gives away a pen. Camera quickly pans at the referee as he blows the whistle and points to the spot. The other players don't think it's a penalty. The music gets intense and the camera keeps switching between the goalkeeper and the main players eyes. The music will then stop and the camera will focus on the player as all you can hear is breathing. As he goes to kick it the camera will be behind the player to get a whole shot of the goal as he kicks it over the bar. We cut back to the main player back at home on his Xbox playing some FIFA with his phone close to him waiting for the call. A couple seconds go by when suddenly the phone starts to ring. He picks it up and a Man starts to speak saying, You had a great game yesterday but we don't think you had the cutting edge to make it into our team. Best of luck and we hope you make it somewhere in the future. He slowly takes the phone away from his ear and places it on the table in disappointment. The camera then cuts to him jogging past the camera then into the distance as the camera fades to black. A message pops up saying “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts" - Winston Churchill

My Inspiration for the Video:
This is video is my main inspiration for my video, I want to use a few things from this video to inspire mine, for example the main plot of playing a match, missing a penalty and not falling after failure. The way this was shot was also very good and helped figure some shots out in mine.
This video has really helped me come up with better ways to film my low shots in my video of the player running with the ball, I really liked the cinematography when they did the dribbling scene. Despite the length I have learnt a-lot from this video that I am going to use in my video.
|
This video is one of the best short football films there is, The message that comes with it and the way they express that nothing has changed from the 1970s and now the 2000s. It is very well shot and I'm going to use the message as inspiration and try and show my message even more in my film.
This video is the best short football film/advert, not just because Cristiano Ronaldo is in it but also because of the fast paced shots there is and the message that they got across about hard work can get you somewhere. I am going to try and use the fast paced shots into my video.
|
This video wasn't the greatest in terms of making too much sense, but that was mostly because he filmed the entire thing by himself. I did like some of the shots he used and the idea he used I'm going to use some of the aspects and shots that he used such as the shot of he whole goal.
This video is another montage like video, It's not so much as story type one but it does bring a message of motivation and that's quite similar to the message in my video. I also really liked the shots that are low down, this makes it look a lot more fast paced.

Mood Board:
My mood board is a bunch of all the things I am going to try and use in my video. From the penalty to the picture to the scout on the side-line. The mood board helps with coming up with shots to use and making sure I remember all the things I have to include. The mood board in my opinion is a way to describe the way my scene will look in terms of camera angles and the colours to use.
Storyboard:
This storyboard helped me visually see what my video would look like, what each shot should look like and the best way to shoot it. It also helped me compare how hard certain shots will be compared to others, for example the shot of the character running off into the distance is a simple still shot on a tripod, while the shot of the camera following the character towards the scout will be a bit more difficult because I have to keep a steady hand while doing it. The storyboard is the closest thing to the actually full video.
These storyboard are a collective of all the videos I have gotten inspiration from. It shows in more detail what each shot will look down to the camera angle and how close each shot will be. This is a better way of doing storyboards because its more descriptive in the way it looks.

Costumes:
There isn't much when it comes to costumes, but that's because it is a trial. Which means they will wear shorts, long socks, boots and a football shirt. The 2 footballers on the same team will wear yellow and black, while the other player on the other team will wear any different coloured shirt. There is also a goalkeeper who will wear a red t-shirt and some shorts of any colour, the goalkeeper will also have goalkeeper gloves. Pictures below are a few examples. There are a couple other characters involved. Such as the referee who will wear black and have some shorts, similar to the footballers except they won't need the long socks. There is one other character and that is the scout. I want the scout to wear some regular jogging trousers, a pair of running shoes and any t-shirt with a jacket on. This is to show that the scout isn't involved in the match and stands out from the rest of the players. Very similar to the man with pen and board in his hand in the picture below.
